It may not seem like it, but by the time you read this, the first 1% of 2018 will already be in the books. All is not lost, however. There is still more than enough time to make this year your best ever.
It won’t happen automatically, though. There won’t be a knock at your door with someone wearing an “opportunity” sign. If this is going to be your best year ever, you’re going to have to do some work. Every day.
To make 2018 your best year ever, you’re going to need a process. In this type of situation, what works for me and what works for you will likely be different. There is no one right way. But any and every way is the right way.
Whether you spend time every day reviewing your goals and then identifying tasks that help you get closer to those goals, or whether you spend time at the end of every day reviewing what you accomplished, taking the time to make sure you are still on the right path is essential. You’ll never get to where you want to be if you don’t figure out the directions first.
There are apps to help you block distracting sites like Youtube and Facebook if you find yourself spending too much time on them. There are strategies like “Don’t Break The Chain,” which use repetition to enforce certain behaviors. There are a ton of apps that deal with self-improvement. Pick one and run with it.
So write down goals. Or create a vision board. Or block off time in your calendar every day. Or turn off all the distractions and take a short walk. It doesn’t really matter what you do. What matters is that you do something. It may take some work to get into the habit of doing it every day, but it will be worth it.
